Congenital breast deformities encompass a range of conditions that affect the shape, size, and symmetry of the breasts. At FACES+, advanced surgical techniques are used in the correction of congenital breast deformities.
Types of Breast Deformities
- Tubular Breasts: A condition where one or both breasts look tublike, with a narrower base and larger areolas.
- Asymmetry: One breast is noticeably larger or shaped differently than the other.
- Poland Syndrome: A congenital condition characterized by the absence or underdevelopment of chest muscles and breast tissue on one side of the body.
- Breast Hypoplasia: Underdevelopment or lack of sufficient breast tissue, resulting in smaller or flatter breasts.
- Amastia: The absence of one or both breasts, often due to congenital factors.
- Symmastia: A condition where the breast tissue extends across the midline, resulting in the appearance of a single breast across the chest wall.
- Inverted Nipples: A condition where one or both nipples are pulled inward rather than protruding outward.
- Pectus Excavatum: A sunken chest wall deformity that can cause the breasts to appear asymmetric or underdeveloped.
- Polymastia: The presence of extra breast tissue or nipples, often located along the “milk line.”
- Congenital Nipple Deformities: Abnormalities in the shape, size, or position of the nipples present at birth.
